PC game anti-cheat and Windows 11 compatibility database for 2026

PC Gaming Anti-Cheat & Windows 11 Compatibility Database (2026)

Last updated: October 6, 2026

PC anti-cheat requirements are changing quickly. Windows 11 security features such as TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, UEFI configuration and kernel-level protection are becoming increasingly important across competitive PC games.

This database tracks the current anti-cheat systems, Windows requirements and security requirements for popular PC games. We check official publisher, developer and support documentation and update this page when major changes are announced.

2026 PC Game Anti-Cheat Compatibility Database

Game Anti-Cheat Windows TPM / Secure Boot Current Status
Fortnite Easy Anti-Cheat + BattlEye Windows 10 64-bit minimum; Windows 10/11 recommended Required for qualifying competitive tournaments Active
Rust Easy Anti-Cheat Windows 11 64-bit currently listed EAC support includes TPM / Secure Boot guidance; no universal requirement is listed in the current Steam system requirements Active
Apex Legends EA Javelin Anticheat Official game specifications list Windows 10 64-bit Secure Boot is not currently required for Apex Javelin Javelin live since September 29, 2026
ARC Raiders Denuvo Anti-Cheat + Anybrain + in-house detection Windows 10 or later, 64-bit No universal TPM 2.0 / Secure Boot requirement publicly listed Denuvo enforced for all players
VALORANT Riot Vanguard Windows 10 Build 19041+ or Windows 11 64-bit TPM 2.0 + UEFI Secure Boot required on Windows 11 Active

Requirements can change after game, Windows, BIOS or anti-cheat updates. Always check current publisher documentation before changing system settings.

Fortnite Anti-Cheat & Windows 11 Compatibility

Epic Games currently documents both Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye as anti-cheat technologies used by Fortnite.

Fortnite's minimum PC requirement includes Windows 10 64-bit, while the recommended specification lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are especially important for competitive Fortnite. Epic requires both features for Windows players participating in certain tournaments that require Account Level 350 or higher.

Common Fortnite PC anti-cheat problems can involve EAC installation errors, BattlEye initialization problems, outdated drivers, BIOS configuration or Secure Boot validation.

Rust Anti-Cheat & Windows Compatibility

Rust uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) for protected servers. Facepunch's support documentation confirms that launching Rust without EAC limits players to EAC-unsecured servers.

The current Rust Steam requirements list Windows 11 64-bit as the minimum Windows operating system.

Facepunch also provides EAC troubleshooting information covering TPM and Secure Boot, authentication errors, corrupted EAC files, Windows updates and antivirus conflicts.

Common Rust EAC errors include authentication timeouts, client integrity violations, certificate errors and failures to start the EAC service.

Apex Legends Anti-Cheat: EA Javelin

Apex Legends made a major anti-cheat change in September 2026.

Effective September 29, 2026, EA replaced Easy Anti-Cheat on PC with EA Javelin Anticheat. EA says the move gives its anti-cheat team greater visibility into emerging threats and more flexibility to improve detection.

Importantly, EA specifically stated that Secure Boot is not currently required for Apex Legends' implementation of Javelin Anticheat.

The official Apex Legends PC specification currently lists 64-bit Windows 10 as its operating system requirement.

ARC Raiders Anti-Cheat

ARC Raiders has significantly expanded its anti-cheat system during 2026.

Embark Studios began rolling out Denuvo Anti-Cheat in May and completed deployment to all players by June 30, 2026.

Embark has also confirmed that ARC Raiders uses Anybrain and additional in-house detection systems. Its security stack includes hardware and software detection as well as machine-learning-based input telemetry analysis.

The current PC requirements list Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, with DirectX 12.

VALORANT, Riot Vanguard, TPM 2.0 & Secure Boot

VALORANT uses Riot Vanguard, Riot Games' anti-cheat platform.

Official VALORANT PC specifications support Windows 10 Build 19041 or later and Windows 11 64-bit.

On Windows 11, Riot requires TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot.

Riot has continued expanding Vanguard's system-security checks, including protections involving motherboard firmware, virtualization-based security and pre-boot security.

Players receiving Vanguard restriction messages should follow Riot's official instructions and their motherboard manufacturer's firmware guidance rather than changing BIOS settings without knowing what they control.

Why TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot Matter for PC Gaming

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are Windows security technologies that help establish whether a computer starts in a trusted state.

Not every PC game requires them, but competitive anti-cheat systems are increasingly using Windows security features as part of their integrity checks.

A TPM or Secure Boot error does not automatically mean that an account has been banned. BIOS configuration, outdated firmware, Windows installation settings and hardware compatibility can also cause security validation errors.

What Is an HWID?

Hardware identification is another part of modern PC security. A computer contains multiple hardware and system identifiers rather than one universal HWID.

How We Maintain This Database

This page prioritizes information from official game publishers, developer support centers and official storefront system requirements.

Anti-cheat software changes frequently, so we record the date of major updates and periodically re-check Windows, TPM, Secure Boot and anti-cheat requirements.
